Further to the north in Scotland, the name Archibald George appears as burgess and councillor of Irvine, Ayrshire in 1597.
Mr. Abraham George (b. 1811) was a Cornish settler who was convicted at aged 23 on 14th October 1834. He was sentenced for 7 years for obtaining money under false pretences and transported aboard the ship "Waterloo" on 18 November 1834 to Van Diemen's Land, Australia.
